Audiology Clinic Support Administrator

We are seeking to recruit an administrator to work within our busy Audiology Department in Boscombe, Bournemouth. This post is ideally full time but a minimum of 3 days a week may be considered.

The main function of the Audiology Service is to provide NHS hearing aid services throughout Dorset and we are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills to join our friendly admin team.

The role includes dealing with a range of telephone queries from patients, arranging appointments, working on reception, managing patient correspondence, data inputting and problem solving. In addition to dealing with patients, a key part of this role is to provide admin support to the clinical team to enable them to run their clinics effectively.

Applicants must have competent IT and administration skills and have the ability to manage a busy workload and to work calmly under pressure. Applicants must also be able to communicate clearly and sympathetically with hearing impaired people.

You will need to be highly organised with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering a customer focused service. This is a very busy department and you will be required to effectively manage multiple and diverse work streams.

Educational Requirements

Essential

• ECDL or equivalent qualification
• GCSE Maths and English

Desirable

• NVQ Level 2 in Administration or Customer Service or equivalent

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

Essential

• Data entry experience
• Experience of responding to telephone calls from patients
• Experience of working in an administration role
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels. This includes communicating with patients with severe to profound hearing loss
• Clear understanding of Data Protection and confidentiality
• Experience of working in a patient facing receptionist role

Desirable

• Understanding of the 6 and 18 week referral pathway guidelines
• Experience of using a Patient Management booking system
• Experience of being the first line response to complaints
• Previous NHS experience
