Senior Azure Cloud Platform Engineer - London (Hybrid) - Contract: Inside IR35
Senior Cloud Platform Engineer urgently sought by a leading Insurance client
We are supporting a highly regarded Insurance organisation whop are urgently seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to play a key role in the design, delivery and ongoing evolution of its Azure cloud platform.
This role will require hands-on engineering and some architecture to provide technical leadership across Azure, shaping platform strategy while remaining actively involved in delivery through Infrastructure as Code, DevOps pipelines and secure cloud design.
You will work closely with other platform engineers, security and architecture stakeholders, helping to define standards, guide technical decisions, and ensure cloud solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure by design.
Please note this role will require core background in Financial Services and will be a proven Technical SME within Azure Cloud & DevOps. This is a Hybrid role and will be 3 days per week on-site in the London office. Only candidates with the core industry background and ability to be on-site 3x per week will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
*Design and produce high-level and low-level Azure solution designs aligned to business and security requirements
*Lead and support the delivery of Azure cloud solutions, from concept through to production
*Act as a technical authority for Azure, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices
*Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into deliverable technical solutions
*Engineer and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
*Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and modern DevOps practices
*Design and support highly available environments across PaaS, IaaS, serverless and container-based workloads
*Work closely with security and architecture teams to ensure platforms are secure, compliant and well-governed
*Provide guidance, mentoring and knowledge sharing to upskill engineers across the wider technology team
*Lead or contribute to cloud initiatives, providing visibility on progress, risks and dependencies
*Stay current with emerging Azure services and cloud-native technologies
Essential Skills & Experience
*Significant experience designing and delivering secure Azure cloud platforms
*Strong background in Azure platform engineering or cloud architecture
*Proven experience delivering Azure environments using Terraform and DevOps pipelines
*Deep understanding of Azure services across networking, identity, security, monitoring and governance
*Experience with hub-and-spoke networking, private connectivity, and enterprise-grade Azure estates
*Strong communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders
*Hands-on experience with cloud-native and containerised solutions
*Comfortable operating in environments requiring high availability, resilience and compliance
*Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer)
*Experience working within regulated or enterprise environments
*Exposure to formal architecture frameworks or standards
*Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers in cloud transformations
