Band 7, Clinical Lead, Speech & Language Therapist, Acute/Neuro 0.8 wte

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Speech & Language Therapy service at UHD. The team are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking specialist Speech & Language Therapist to work across both acute and neuro caseloads, with a hyper-acute focus.

The successful applicant will have experience of working in an acute hospital setting, including critical care. The applicant should have skills in managing patients with tracheostomy and ideally instrumental assessment, as we have a newly established FEES service. You will be a confident communicator who thrives in a fast paced, multidisciplinary environment.

This role requires HCPC registration and a member of the Royal College

of Speech and Language Therapists

Interview Date: 6th May 2026

In this role you will provide evidence-based, holistic care to a diverse caseload of patients with complex dysphagia and communication impairments across acute and neuro pathways.

Working with our other clinical leads, this role will also provide leadership and support service development, as part of the growth of the SLT service and transformation of hospital services. Specifically supervising neuro and acute B6 rotational posts, developing neuro rehab pathways and providing training opportunities across the service.

Cross site working is an expected part of the role.

Base location: Bournemouth Hospital.

1 in 6 weekends and bank holiday working required.

UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
