Join University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in our dynamic Respiratory Support Team and play a vital role in transforming care for patients with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) across our region.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly specialised regional service, supporting adults living with PCD as part of our expert multidisciplinary team. You'll deliver nurse-led clinics, guide patients from diagnosis through ongoing care, and provide expert advice while working both independently and collaboratively.
As a key point of contact for patients, you'll offer education, reassurance, and continuity of care, while also contributing to research, service development, audit, and quality improvement. You'll also support patients transitioning into adult services, ensuring seamless, patient-centred care.

*Act as an expert clinical practitioner and key point of contact for patients with PCD
*Deliver and lead nurse-led clinics, demonstrating advanced clinical decision-making
*Provide specialist advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
*Coordinate care across the patient pathway, including transition into adult services
*Work autonomously while contributing to multidisciplinary team decision-making
*Lead and contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
*Support and participate in research activity within the specialist service
*Provide leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff where appropriate

Person specification (key requirements)
*Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
*Significant post-registration experience, including respiratory care
*Evidence of specialist knowledge in respiratory conditions (Cystic Fibrosis, Bronchiectasis or PCD experience desirable)
*Experience of working at Band 6 level or equivalent
*Demonstrable experience of autonomous practice and clinical decision-making
*Experience of service development, audit, or quality improvement
*Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
*Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
