Job Summary

Advanced Clinical Coder -- Band 4 (2 Posts)

28,392 - 31,157 (These posts attract a 20% RRP, reviewed annually)

Full Time -- Hybrid/Remote

University Hospital Birmingham is seeking two experienced and motivated Band 4 Clinical Coders to join our Clinical Coding Department. These full-time positions offer an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high quality coded clinical data across a large and diverse acute Trust.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

The post holders will be responsible for producing accurate, complete, and timely clinical coding in accordance with national standards and Trust policies. Working across a broad range of specialties, you will interpret complex clinical documentation and ensure that coded data supports effective patient care, service planning, and statutory reporting.

Essential Criteria:

Essential Criteria:

Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) qualification, or evidence of equivalent proven competence

Demonstrable experience coding within an acute hospital environment

Strong interpretive skills with meticulous attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and performance targets

Commitment to maintaining up to date knowledge of national coding standards and participating in ongoing professional development

Qualifications

Essential

  • GSCE (a--c) or equivalent
  • ACC or proven equivalent level of knowledge.

Experience

  • Significant coding experience.

Desirable

  • National Coding Accreditation (ACC).
  • Able to code complex specialties.
