Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the specialist eating disorder service (SEDS) within BSMHFT.
SEDS are an established and ambitious team who provide specialist assessment, intervention and evidence based treatment for patients 0-25 with eating disorders in the community, alongside supporting their families/carers. The team also provides intensive treatment in the community to help keep patients in their own homes, reduce inpatient admissions and support early discharge.
SEDS are part of Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) which is now the Children’s and Young People’s division of BSMHFT.
The role will involve direct patient care, including physical health assessment and monitoring, therapeutic engagement and motivational work, contribution to risk assessment and care planning, meal support and coaching, working as part of a multi disciplinary team and under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
The post holder will be required to have a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal, be compassionate, respectful and value individual patient needs. They will have the ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner (this may be clinic based or in the home), be resilient and emotionally intelligent and engage positively with children, young adults and families.
