What you'll be doing
As one of our
Healthcare Assistants, you’ll work with members of the inpatients and theatre teams, providing a safe and supportive environment for all patients. You’ll ensure that our patients receive a high standard of care by carrying out routine patient monitoring and care duties such as; changing bedding and assisting with personal hygiene, you’ll be undertaking basic nursing care practices like catheter fitting and bag changing.
You’ll be setting up theatre’s ready for your patient’s treatment to take place and having gained knowledge of your patient by investigating the patent pathway responsibility of adding to and following that patents pathway, ensuring particulars such as; consent obtained before any treatment is carried out.
There will be elements of admin. tasks to be carried out, for instance, you will be called upon to collect all patient information together for admissions and discharging or for follow-up calls. You may be required to photocopy particulars and transport patient paperwork to other departments.
As the Healthcare Assistant, you'll be conscious of he
alth, safety and hygiene aspects on a ward. Not only will you look to make sure the ward is clean, you will monitor and look for potential hazards, ensuring they are made safe or the issue is quickly bright to the attention or the department manager. In addition, you’ll assist with the management of stock and equipment, ensuring good levels and ordering when appropriate, pre-empting any shortfalls.
What we'll look for in you
Being a Practice Plus Group Healthcare Assistant, you will have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment that can be hard, but also fun and rewarding!
You might have past working experience in a care home, hospital or clinical environment and may have already completed the NVQ level 1&2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and Basic Life Support (BSL) Certificate or Care Certificate. If not, you must be willing to undertake the training which is provided by us.
You'll be computer literate and an effective communicator at all levels, both written, verbal and adaptable. This position will see you engaging with a wide range of people, from internal colleagues from varied departments to patients, their families and friends.
