We are looking for a Bid Team Manager to join our successful Marketing team. This role is home based with occasional travel to offices required.
Role and Responsibilities
As a growing and ambitious business, we are seeking a Bid Team Manager who is responsible for leading and developing a team of bid writers to deliver high-quality, compliant, and compelling bid/tender responses. This role will drive new business and support client renewals through formal tender submissions (RFI, PQQ, RFP, RFQ, ITT), sales, proposals, and client contracts.
The role combines people management, resource planning, quality assurance, and process improvement to support the organisation's business growth objectives.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Lead and manage a team of bid professionals, taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process
- Resource planning and workload allocation
- Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process
- Opportunity identification (including via tender portals) and liaising with account teams to support the growth of existing customers
- Work with opportunity owners to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years bid management experience
- Experience developing bid strategies and win themes
- Demonstrable experience improving bid processes and win rates
- Strong commercial awareness with experience supporting pricing strategies and commercially competitive pricing submissions
- Line Management experience
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and influence colleagues at all levels of the organisation
Desirable:
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent professional experience
- Qualifications relevant to the position
- Experience in working on service-based bids, ideally within utilities/energy sector
- Knowledge of working with public sector tenders, framework agreements, or regulated procurement processes
