Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists, to join our friendly team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH).

This is a permanent post in cellular pathology. Staff may be required to work at our alternative site, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, Oswestry. Suitably qualified trainees will be considered for a Band 5 post.

The Cellular Pathology Department is looking to appoint a Biomedical Scientist, to assist with the provision of a diagnostic service.

  • Assist in the provision of a diagnostic service.
  • Perform competently a range of laboratory techniques and procedures in one or more section(s) of the Cellular Pathology either singly, or as part of a team, that equate to the training and level of responsibility of a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered BMS.
  • Supervise support workers, students and other untrained or unqualified staff in the performance of tests according to standard operating procedures.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital (SaTH) Pathology Services are accredited to UKAS standards.

There has been significant investment from NHSE for automated equipment and digital pathology.

The departments are approved IBMS/HCPC training laboratory and continuous professional development is actively encouraged

The Trust

The two SATH Hospitals, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford are just a 30 minute drive apart. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.

Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital is a specialist orthopaedic hospital in the outskirts of Oswestry, the Cellular Pathology service is provided by SATH.

As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our county also borders with beautiful North Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches and thrilling scenery.
