The Successful candidate can expect to be involved in a range of the following activities:

Take the lead in ensuring the Departments requirements are met in relation to benefit and pension payments advancing. Including overall management of implementation plans, risks/actions/issues and decisions logs.
Provide payment statistics to senior management and other Government Departments in a timely manner.
Develop Detailed Business Requirements (DBRs), ensuring the needs of key stakeholders are articulated.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships across key stakeholders, managing priorities, resolving conflict quickly and effectively.
Undertake system/assurance testing on behalf of Business stakeholders.
Develop communication bulletins and ensure they are published in a timely manner and cascaded appropriately.
Have line management of a small team.
Be required to work in a rapidly changing environment and deliver to tight timescales liaising closely with Senior Stakeholders across Finance, Digital and cross cutting major DWP Programs.
Support the Departments payment and accounting payment files reconciliation process.

Provide subject matter expertise to a number of locally produced business applications.

Essential Criteria

A strong candidate for this role will demonstrate the following Essential Criteria:

Lead Criteria: Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, suppliers and Subject Matter Experts. Able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, including senior leaders and external partners to secure engagement and support better outcomes for the Department. Communicates with clarity and enthusiasm, showing resilience and empathy when managing challenges or conflict.
Good understanding of a payment and accounting system, banking industry processes and the end to end payment journey. Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess and resolve any issues around bank holiday advancing payments.
The successful candidate will have experience using Microsoft tools to analyse data, identify trends, and generate insights. They will also be able to create and deliver PowerPoint presentations and demonstrate how their problem‑solving approach has driven process improvements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple pieces of work of competing priority to meet organisational objectives. They will show how they have worked effectively and efficiently under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
