Main duties of the job
UHS cancer services and teams are totally committed to the care and experience of our patients and their family.
With a thriving community of practice for all cancer CNSs we ensure networking opportunities and the sharing of good practice. Our Specialist Breast Cancer Specialist Nursing team are central to patients’ experience providing them with expert information and guidance, advocacy, care and compassion.
The Breast Cancer team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation trust is an exemplar service. The CNSs work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary team (MDT), the medical clinicians and ward teams to provide a holistic and patient centred service.
You would provide support for patients throughout their cancer pathway from diagnosis, through surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and into survivorship. The culture is one of inclusivity and mutual respect with a focus on continuing development and innovation.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at L6
Post registration qualification within area of speciality or equivalent experience.
Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
Extensive post registration experience within specialist area.
Desirable criteria
Registered on MSc Pathway – completion of HTPA Competencies
Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
