Description

CITB are seeking a professional who can design and maintain robust business continuity plans, deliver structured desktop exercises and manage incidents from routine disruptions to crisis-level events. Your ability to engage stakeholders and drive organisational resilience will be central to enhancing our preparedness and response capability.


This role will involve implementing year 3 of a three-year maturity plan, to cement business continuity awareness and practice across the business, evidenced through policy and procedures, and exercising and testing.


Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Contract: 12 Months Maternity Cover - Fixed Term Contract

Grade: SL2

Target Salary: £67,162 per annum + £6,799 car allowance

Location: Peterborough/Hybrid - The role will require you to attend face to face meetings as required in Peterborough and NCC sites


About the Role

To act as the corporate conscience and professional lead for CITB on Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Emergency Planning, by providing advice, challenge, guidance, and support to the Board, Executive Team, Leadership Team, and wider organisation, to improve resilience and maintain preparedness for identifying, managing, and recovering from an adversely impactful business event.


Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

  • To develop, implement, manage, and review Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and related Emergency Plans at organisational and team level
  • To lead the delivery and co-ordination of Business Continuity Management (BCM) activities to address adversely impactful business events across CITB
  • To develop and deliver an exercise and test programme that validates scenarios and plans, and to ensure that the results are documented, with remediation actions identified and tracked where necessary
  • To provide leadership by developing and delivering training, mentoring, and awareness programmes for colleagues and teams across CITB, embedding BCM within the organisation’s culture
  • To develop and operate an assurance framework to provide a high degree of confidence that the organisation can effectively manage emergency, crisis, and business interruption events
  • To develop a communications strategy to instil an awareness and understanding of BCM requirements and standards
  • To ensure that critical support functions and resources, e.g. estates, equipment, people, technology, etc., are identified and are available in the event of a disruption to business
  • To review the BCM arrangements of key partners and suppliers of goods and services to CITB
  • To continuously improve plans and processes by analysing real incidents and changes to industry standards, and to implement best practices on an ongoing basis
  • To support programme and project managers to ensure they have taken proper account of business continuity arrangements in their planning and solution design, including contingency arrangements to achieve implementation to time and budget.

  • Qualifications

    Essential

    • Certification in and/or membership of a relevant professional body, e.g. Business Continuity Institute (BCI)
    • Broad experience of working in the field of business resilience to include Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Incident Management, and Emergency Planning along with the oversight of third-party supply chain resilience
    • Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills
    • Ability to make effective presentations to multiple levels of stakeholders
    • Strong analytical and data management skills, including the utilisation of modern tools, e.g. MS Excel
    • Demonstrable problem-solving skills with the ability to facilitate problem-solving discussions
  • Comfortable acting as the lead adviser for BCM and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Well-developed knowledge of organisational governance frameworks in terms of developing strategies, plans and policies, and reporting, progress
  • Working knowledge of ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management

  • Desirable

    • Experience of project and programme management
    • Knowledge of the construction industry, and subject matter trends, including relevant legislation and the regulatory landscape in relation to BCM
    • Knowledge of construction industry stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of working in the charity and public sector.
