Description

We’re seeking a creative, data-driven BI Developer to own the design and delivery of externally facing self-serve analytics that help customers turn complex data into confident decisions.

In this role you’ll build intuitive, high-performance dashboards and insights products, shaping data models, UX, and delivery so customers can explore their own metrics, spot market trends, and extract actionable recommendations at scale.

Reporting to the Director of AI & Analytics and partnering closely with Product, you’ll turn raw numbers into clear, actionable stories that directly influence customer outcomes and business growth.

This role requires someone who treats Business Intelligence not as reporting, but as a customer-facing product-combining technical capability, design thinking and storytelling to make data genuinely useful. If you care about craftsmanship, scalability, and turning data into products and tools people can confidently use, this is the role where you can make an impact.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain engaging, intuitive BI tools and dashboards that deliver clear value to customers across Chambers’ digital products, supporting better decision-making and deeper engagement.
  • Translate customer needs, behavioural data, and product usage insights into compelling, easy-to-understand visual experiences that surface insight, not just information.
  • Partner closely with product and analysts to define meaningful metrics, align on success measures, and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and trust across customer-facing analytics.
  • Act as a data storytelling expert, recommending the most effective ways to communicate insight through visualisation, narrative structure, and interaction design.
  • Collaborate with UX and visual designers to develop and evolve consistent, on-brand data visualisation patterns that enhance clarity, comprehension, and usability across all BI products.
  • Continuously improve and evolve existing dashboards using customer feedback, usage analytics, and performance metrics to ensure tools remain relevant, valuable, and easy to use.
  • Ensure all BI outputs are accessible, responsive, and performant, supporting a diverse range of users, devices, and accessibility needs.
  • Champion best practices in data visualisation, self-service BI, and semantic modelling, helping raise the overall standard of analytics across the organisation.
  • Support internal teams with enablement, documentation, and training, ensuring successful rollout and adoption of BI tools and helping non-technical stakeholders confidently interpret and use data.
  • Contribute ideas and insight into the future direction of Chambers’ data products, identifying opportunities where data can create new customer value, differentiation, or monetisation.

  • Skills and Experience

    • Demonstrated experience developing insights and analytics for paying customers, with a clear understanding of how data products drive value, engagement, and retention.
    • Proven track record of designing and delivering customer-facing dashboards, BI tools, or data visualisation products that are intuitive, reliable, and commercially meaningful.
    • Strong proficiency with modern BI and dashboarding platforms such as Tableau, Sigma, Qlik, Power BI, Looker, or equivalent tools, with the ability to choose the right approach for different user needs.
    • Deep understanding of UX/UI principles for data products, including layout, hierarchy, interaction design, accessibility, and visual storytelling techniques that help users quickly interpret and act on insights.
  • Solid working knowledge of data integration and modelling, including writing SQL, working with relational databases, and connecting to data sources such as Databricks, data lakes, JSON files, and API-driven services.
  • Experience working confidently across multiple, complex datasets, understanding data lineage, definitions, and limitations, and ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, and trustworthy.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, combined with a user-first mindset, ensuring dashboards are not only correct but clear, usable, and aligned with real customer needs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with analysts, engineers, designers, product managers, and commercial stakeholders, translating between technical and non-technical perspectives.
  • Comfortable operating in agile, cross-functional product environments, contributing iteratively, responding to feedback, and balancing speed with quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, suggest improvements, and influence how data is presented and used

  • About you:

    • You understand that data and content must be credible, informative, and make sense to the user first and foremost.
    • You have a strong eye for visual design and know how to use layout, hierarchy, and visual cues to support data interpretation and understanding.
    • You understand and apply user-centred design principles to create data tools that are clear, engaging, and easy to navigate.
    • You communicate clearly and adapt your style to suit both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex data into accessible insight.
    • You are detail-oriented, ensuring consistency in layout, labelling, and visual language across dashboards and BI tools.
    • You enjoy solving problems creatively and iterating your work based on feedback, usage behaviour, and research.
    • You thrive in cross-functional teams and enjoy working collaboratively with product, design, data, and research stakeholders.
    • You care about accessibility and inclusivity in data visualisation and want your work to serve a broad range of users

Nice to have (but not essential)

    • Experience designing reporting or analytics tools for SaaS, legal tech, or other data-rich platforms.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusivity principles as they apply to data design and visualisation.
  • Experience working with market research data, particularly within professional services or legal environments.
  • Familiarity with user research methods, cohort segmentation, or behavioural analytics.
  • Experience working across multiple dependencies and varied data use cases.

  • Equal Opportunity Statement
