The Business Manager (BM) will coordinate the portfolio overseen by the Chief Medical Officers(CMOs).The post holder will lead on governance, resourcemanagementand delivery of keyobjectiveswithin the CMOs'portfolio.This will include supporting the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) and Associate Medical Directors (AMD), with specific duties to support their portfolios
As well as being dynamic,adaptiveand responsive to the requirements of the CMOs, theBMwill be expected to work proactively and to pre-empt the needs of the CMOs,identifyingand managing / escalating urgent issues that require the attention of the CMO's office.
TheBMmust be able to exercise professional judgment in thetimelyprovision ofaccurateadvice, briefs, reports,presentationsand correspondence to the CMOs, and must also be able to prepare such documentation on the CMO's behalf to a suitable standard.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Service Management
Accountable to theCMOsfor the establishment and development of the structure, governance, systems and processes for the services and portfolios owned by theCMO.
Liaise with Deputy Medical Directors, Associate Medical Directors,DivisionalMedicalDirectors,and other key clinical leaders to contribute to the development of the clinical strategy.
Support theCMOsin specific programmes of work for which they are the SRO (eg.Research Development & Innovation; Clinical Audit; Clinical Senateand others asrequired).
Provides interpretation of national guidelines in relation to quality improvement and assurance.
Take a lead in the development and operation of the Clinical Senate and Clinical Outcomes and Effectiveness Group.
Work with external agencies and stakeholders in collaborative schemes to deliver service improvement and share bestpractice.
Managehighly complextasks on behalf of theCMO, working through senior colleagues and partners. Frequently exercise judgement onhighly complexfacts andsituations,making informed decisions which require analysis,interpretation,and comparison of options.
Identifyand build effective working relationships and networks with clinical and non-clinical colleagues. Ensure policy coherence across the Directorates priorities, ensuring alignment with UHPstrategy and plans.
Support theCMOsand other Executive colleagues in deliveringan ongoing programme of communications to, and engagement with, clinical colleagues across the organisation.
Work with colleagues in support of the MedicalWorkforce,Education, Research,Innovation,and Improvement agendas.
Where requested, support the development of robust services plans and business cases aligned to UHPpriorities.
Deputisefor theCMOswhereappropriateand directed.
The post holder maybe requiredto undertake other relevant duties, including the operational lead for specific services and localities, as agreed with theCMOs.
