Strategic Research & Business Development (Built Environment)

📍 London | Hybrid Working

💰 £70,000 – £100,000 + Bonus

We are working with a globally recognised architecture and design practice to appoint a Capture Manager to join their strategic development team in London.

This is a rare and highly strategic role supporting senior partners across international markets, combining deep market research, strategic insight and behind-the-scenes business development support.

The role is not client-facing. Instead, you will work internally with partners and leadership teams to ensure they are equipped with the insights, strategies and intelligence needed to pursue major projects globally.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, research and the built environment.

The Role

This position combines two key areas of responsibility:

Strategic Research & Market Intelligence

You will lead deep-dive research projects to help leadership understand emerging markets, sectors and opportunities.

Typical work includes:

• Global market analysis

• Sector growth and economic research

• Competitor and project pipeline analysis

• Client and developer profiling

• Opportunity due diligence

• Identification of new markets and sectors

Research projects may focus on individual countries, sectors or major clients and can span several weeks or months.

Strategic Business Development Support

You will also work closely with senior partners to support pursuit strategy and opportunity development.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing partners for key client meetings and industry events

• Developing engagement strategies for target clients

• Supporting re-engagement with dormant clients

• Advising on pursuit strategy and positioning

• Translating research insights into actionable opportunities

This is a high-impact internal advisory role where your work directly shapes how leadership approaches global opportunities.

The Ideal Background

We are looking for someone with a hybrid profile combining strong research capability with a genuine understanding of the built environment.

Potential backgrounds might include:

• Strategy or research roles within architecture or design practices

• Built environment advisory or consulting

• Market intelligence or strategic development within property or infrastructure

• Strategy or research roles in firms such as engineering, architecture or real estate advisory

Key Skills

• Strong analytical and research capability

• Ability to synthesise complex information into clear insights

• Interest in architecture, urban development and the built environment

• Excellent stakeholder communication skills

• Confidence working with senior leadership teams

• Strategic thinking combined with attention to detail

The role requires someone who can build credibility with senior designers and partners, translating research into practical strategic insight.
