About The Role

We’re looking for a skilled Security Systems Engineer to join our Fire & Security team for our Asset Technology and Solutions business, supporting projects across the our projects in the South of England. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering, installing and maintaining our temporary, rapid deployment and fixed CCTV systems, intruder alarms, access control, door entry and other high‑end security technologies across Balfour Beatty sites.

You’ll be working as part of a collaborative engineering team, contributing to the safety and security of our sites and ensuring all systems operate to the highest possible standards. Travel and flexibility will be essential as you’ll support projects across a wide geographical region.

What you'll be doing

As a Security Systems Engineer, You Will

  • Install, maintain and repair CCTV systems in line with relevant standards and technical specifications.
  • Deliver high‑quality installations of intruder alarms, access control, door entry and associated security systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.
  • Support overall site security by upholding best practice and proactively identifying improvements.
  • Transport and collect equipment, materials and assets as required for site works.
  • Carry out and implement risk assessments and method statements.
  • Report unsafe acts, near misses and positive observations, contributing to a strong safety culture.
  • Keep up to date with current industry standards, technologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Build effective working relationships across the engineering team, internal stakeholders and business units.

  • Who we're looking for

    You’ll be a proactive, technically capable engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys working across varied project locations. You will bring:

    • Strong technical knowledge of intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, fire and door entry systems.
    • Experience with IP CCTV and related trade qualifications.
    • Preferably, a FESS Card and experience working within a BAFE/SSAIB/NSI accredited organisation.
    • A good understanding of relevant industry standards and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The confidence and professionalism to advise senior colleagues when issues need urgent action.

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands and South of England.
