The Diocese of Bristol is looking to appoint a Chaplain with the Deaf Community
Location: Based in the Diocese of Bristol, with engagement across neighbouring dioceses.
Commitment: The role is open to both lay and ordained people. If clergy, half-time (0.5 Stipend) and a house available in Yate; if lay, 0.5 (17.5 hours/week) salary is £42,000 pro rata.
This part-time role offers a unique and vital opportunity to lead ministry among Deaf people across the Diocese of Bristol, providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and worship in British Sign Language (BSL).
The chaplain will nurture and grow the two Deaf Churches, support Deaf individuals and families, and work collaboratively with local churches and organisations to build bridges between Deaf and hearing communities.
This ministry is central to the Diocese of Bristol’s vision of Transforming Church. Together - recognising and responding to the needs of those on the margins and empowering their full participation in the life of the Church.
