Charge Nurse Deputy ward manager - Older People and Stroke Services

Older People and Stroke Service are seeking a band 6 Charge Nurse to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Sunday.

This role offers an opportunity to provide senior nursing leadership within a dedicated ortho-geriatric ward, supporting the Senior Charge Nurse in managing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care. They will have defined responsibilities delegated from the Senior Charge Nurse.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide senior nursing leadership to the ward team in support of the Senior Charge Nurse.
• Ensure the delivery of safe and effective, high-quality patient care within the Older People and Stroke Service (ortho-geriatric) ward.
• Supervise qualified and unqualified staff and ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met.

Contribute to the management of the ward/department budget and resources.

Work with an experienced multi-disciplinary team to enhance the patient journey and patient experience.

Role modelling respect and inclusion within the ward

Engage in collaborative problem solving, supporting and encouraging nursing staff to develop solutions

Deputise for the ward manager when required

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
