Based at the Diocesan Office, Rochester (with travel across the Diocese)
21 hours per week, 5 years fixed term

The Diocese of Rochester is seeking a Children & Young People Mission & Ministry Adviser (10–18yrs specialist) to play a key role in shaping how we inspire, support, and enable young people across our communities to flourish as disciples of Jesus. Working closely with churches, clergy, volunteers, and diocesan teams, you will be a champion for young people, resourcing and encouraging their participation in the life of the Church.

About The Role
You will work collaboratively with colleagues and churches to nurture vibrant ministry with children and young people. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and equipping those working with children and young people across parishes, deaneries, and resource hubs
- Helping churches create dynamic opportunities for spiritual encounter and discipleship among 10–18 year olds
- Facilitating training, networks, and sharing of good practice for clergy, volunteers, and youth ministers
- Developing strategic partnerships and events that strengthen youth participation, including the Diocesan Youth Council
- Encouraging collaboration between parishes and connecting with national and diocesan networks
- Providing expertise, resources, and pastoral support to leaders and volunteers
- Championing safeguarding and modelling healthy, supportive relationships with young people and their leaders
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A communicant member of the Church of England
- Experienced in youth ministry (10–18yrs), with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
- Skilled at training, resourcing, and advising adults who work with children and young people
- Relational, collaborative, and able to inspire confidence across diverse contexts
- Organised and able to manage projects, events, and multiple priorities
- A confident communicator, adaptable and creative in approach
- Aware of diversity and church traditions, and able to nurture these within ministry
- Willing to travel throughout the Diocese, including some evenings and weekends
- Committed to safeguarding best practice (an enhanced DBS check will be required)
