About The Team
The main focus of the team is to create a positive environment for investment and development in the City and to secure competitive advantage for the City, its residents and businesses.
The City Development Service is critical to delivery of major projects that benefit the local community and contribute to securing broader economic opportunities for the City
About The Role
- To play a significant role in developing an environment where Southampton is chosen over other cities as a place to work and reside.
- Successful design and implementation of a major property investments in the City in general and the City Centre in particular, to sustain and enhance Southampton’s position as a regional centre.
- To lead on a portfolio of major property development projects and to head-up inter-disciplinary (and sometimes cross-organisational) project teams charged with implementing them.

About You
- Degree level education with professional qualification (RICS)
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Demonstrable experience in initiating and delivering complex property development and regeneration projects
- Proven experience of managing a project budgets and operating in accordance with financial policy and requirements
- Ability to produce high quality development briefs, and to support partners to generate development proposals that accord with the council’s development frameworks and aspirations.
- Ability to negotiate effectively; resolving conflict, securing commitment from stakeholders and funding for projects.
