Description

Are you ready to make a real impact on the future of infrastructure? We're looking for a Civils/Structural Engineer to join our team as a trusted technical authority, providing expert advice and assurance across a diverse range of capital and maintenance projects.

In this role, you'll lead condition inspections, assess asset performance, and develop sustainable maintenance strategies that align with our long-term investment plans and environmental goals. You'll review designs, specifications, and contract documentation for new construction, planned maintenance, and reactive works. Acting as Employer's Representative under NEC3/4 contracts and occasionally as Principal Designer under CDM regulations, you'll ensure compliance, safety, and value at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

Review and approve design briefs, specifications, drawings, and contract documentation.
Act as the organisation's technical authority for civil engineering designs across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects (e.g., bridges, highways, water systems).

Assess and approve consultant designs for compliance, safety, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.

Challenge assumptions and provide independent engineering judgment.

Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.

Provide technical input throughout planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

Drive continuous improvement in engineering standards and design governance.

What We're Looking For

Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng) or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years' post-graduate experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Ideally working towards MICE, MStructE, or equivalent professional membership.
Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
