Applications are invited for the position of B3 0.4 wte Contact Lens & LVA technical assistant & coordinator. This post is is a mix of technical & administrative duties, training can be provided for either elements of this role.
You will be joining our diverse team which includes Contact Lens & anterior segment specialist (service lead), optometrist, LVA specialist , ECLO and the ophthalmology team.
We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated applicants, capable of working individually and as part of a team. The post holder undertake a wide range of technical & clinic coordination/administrative duties.
The post holder will act as a focal point for issues relating to the management of the contact lens & low vision aid service. Developing close links with Orthoptic team, Ophthalmology, medical secretaries, clinicians and Orthoptic Leadership Team.
- clinic coordination duties - word processing, answering telephone enquiries, co-ordination including organisation and implementation of processes of out-patient waiting lists, making / altering appointments and supporting other members of the Orthoptic team.
- organise waiting lists, clinics, appointments and timetables to ensure Trust and departmental targets and standards are met and maintained.
- maintaining and ordering stocks and supplies, using the ELFS system for ordering and GRNing.
- technical roles to support the CL/LVA service e.g. topographical scanning, anterior segment imaging, anterior segment OCTs and other diagnostic tests as required.
- teaching the insertion and removal of contact lenses and instruct patients about adapting to, wearing and caring for contact lenses.
- support LVA Specialist in teaching and guiding patients with the use of LVAs.
