The Renal Service provides a referral and diagnostic service for people with kidney disease.
This includes outpatient clinics and the facilities for admission for diagnostic procedures, including renal biopsy and renal angiography. In addition, the Unit cares for patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) and admits about 160 AKI cases per year. It has clinical interests in Anaemia, Liver-Renal Disease with a growing liver-kidney transplant programme, Sickle Cell Disease, HIV, Lupus/Vasculitis and Pregnancy.
King's operates a joint transplant program with Guy's Renal Unit. Patients called for renal transplant have the surgery at Guy's and are then followed up in the King's Transplant Outpatient Clinic.
Applications are invited for the above posts which are available from September 2026 at King's College Hospital. The posts will be for 12 months initially (renewable subject to mutual agreement).
This post will involve clinical work at SpR/ST3+/registrar level in adult renal medicine. There are added clinical research and management opportunities depending upon the training needs of the successful candidates. Candidates should possess significant experience in renal medicine ideally at registrar level or equivalent. MRCP or equivalent is highly desirable.
