This is a post with the Burns team June 2026 - January 2027. It provides an excellent opportunity to experience a broad and concentrated exposure to all aspects of total burns care in children. Also, an honorary contract will be arranged with the adult burns centre at Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham, in order to have experience in total burns care in adults. In addition, you will have exposure to laser therapy for burns scars. The post is suitable for plastic surgery trainees with interest in burns subspeciality
The department has an active research activity with regular participation innational and international meetings.
There is an expectation to participate in research, presentation and publication. Also, the candidates will participate in the joint burns audits and research meeting with QE
Burns is currently part of the wider paediatric plastic surgical team. The Department of Paediatric Plastic Surgery at Birmingham Children's Hospital provides care for the population of southern and central Birmingham, and more specialist tertiary care for the West Midlands Region (population 5.8 million). Burns and Craniofacial Services are provided on a Supra Regional basis. Birmingham Children's Hospital is a paediatric major trauma centre.
