Part time - 30 hours per week (4 working days to be decided, some cross-site working). We would be happy to discuss this as an opportunity for secondment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research Department for a Band 3 Clinical Trials Assistant. In this vital role, you will support research nurses, allied health professionals (AHPs), and practitioners in the delivery of both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and research studies.

You will become an integral part of a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team, working alongside experienced medical, nursing, administrative, and support staff. Together, you'll contribute to a diverse and expanding portfolio of studies across a range of clinical specialties.

Job description

Were looking for someone whos enthusiastic, approachable, and genuinely interested in clinical research. You should be comfortable working under pressure, enjoy being part of a team, be able to manage your time well and work independently when needed. A practical, common-sense approach is essential, along with the ability to stay calm and flexible in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, youll provide a mix of mainly administrative but some clinical support to our Research team, helping to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of clinical trials in a healthcare setting.

All shortlisted candidates are expected to attend for an informal visit as part of the interview process, which should be arranged in advance.

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • Literacy and numeracy level 2 or equivalent (GCSE A-C)
  • Demonstrate a good command of the English language (written)
  • NVQ level 3 (health or Health & Social Care) or working towards an award
  • Evidence of ability to work with a variety of online and computer systems

Desirable

  • ICH-GCP training
  • Foundation Degree in Health & Social care

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Previous experience in a health or health and social care role
  • Evidence of working within statutory requirements, standards and regulations
  • Able to assess current knowledge and identify learning needs for this role

Desirable

  • Previous experience of clinical trials and research
  • Awareness of GCP, and other local and national agenda within speciality

Skills and Ability

Essential

  • Demonstrate awareness of Trust values
  • Evidence of good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure within a team
  • Demonstrates good team working, initiative, communication skills and flexibility
  • Demonstrates good organisational skills
  • Evidence of recording keeping (health records of administrative)

Desirable

  • Experience of dealing with patients in a clinical setting
  • Phlebotomy skills or ability to obtain heights/weights and vital signs/urinalysis/BM glucose/pregnancy test from patients or willing to undertake this and other training
