Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Salford Royal Pharmacy clinical trials team at the Northern Care Alliance.

The Trusts Research and Innovation Department is recognised nationally and internationally as a leading centre for clinical trials and other studies. The postholder will work closely with the team to support delivery of an expanding portfolio of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials involving medicines in a range of specialist services including advanced therapies and early phase work.

You will work as one of the pharmacists within the clinical trials team to ensure that all trials are conducted in accordance with the highest possible standards, and in compliance with the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Dispensing Practice (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) providing specialist support to the aseptic department to ensure safe, effective and efficient management of aseptic clinical trials.

The post will be split 80% within pharmacy clinical trials and 20% within aseptic services.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the development of the pharmaceutical service for clinical trials by reviewing clinical trial protocols as part of study feasibility and commenting on compliance with regards to:

  • Legal, ethical and pharmaceutical viewpoint and in terms of capacity and facilities available within the pharmacy.

Participation in screening, dispensing and checking of clinical trial prescriptions and advising others of GCP and GMP relating to Investigational Medicinal Product management.

To assist in efficient set up and delivery of clinical trials, with a focus on aseptic, early phase and advanced Therapy Medicinal Products.

Responsible for coordinating clinical trials by ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Facilitating access to an expanded portfolio of clinical trials involving medicines and contributing to developing the pharmacy clinical trials service in line with the NCA Research and Innovation (R&I) strategy.

Aseptic responsibilities will include

  • acting as an authorised pharmacist for aseptic services ensuring GMP is maintained.
  • supporting the Accountable Pharmacist and Quality Assurance Staff in the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems
  • working with the Pharmacy Aseptic Team to ensure systems and processes are in place to meet standards for aseptic production
  • being a releasing officer for products prepared under the MS License.
