Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Debt Recovery Solicitor to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm with a strong reputation in litigation and debt recovery.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team handling a broad range of commercial debt recovery matters for a diverse client base including SMEs, national businesses, financial institutions and international clients. The role offers the chance to manage your own caseload while working closely with experienced colleagues on more complex matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of commercial debt recovery matters from instruction through to enforcement.
- Handling both undisputed and defended claims, including pre-action correspondence and litigation.
- Advising clients on recovery strategies, risk, and costs.
- Drafting legal documents including letters before action, claim forms, particulars of claim, witness statements and settlement agreements.
- Conducting litigation in the County Court and High Court where appropriate.
- Managing enforcement options such as charging orders, statutory demands, winding-up petitions and enforcement proceedings.
- Liaising with clients, counsel, enforcement agents and other third parties.
- Providing practical and commercial advice to clients to maximise recovery prospects.
- Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring excellent service delivery.
- Contributing to the growth and development of the debt recovery team.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent.
- Experience handling commercial debt recovery and/or litigation matters.
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure and enforcement processes.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload efficiently.
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with bulk or volume debt recovery work.
- Familiarity with international debt recovery matters.
- Exposure to insolvency procedures linked to debt recovery.
