We’re Ocado Retail, a market-leading joint venture between Ocado Group and M&S, and the world’s largest dedicated online supermarket, ocado.com. Not only is Ocado.com the only place to shop a full range of M&S food online, but it’s also the home to the widest online supermarket range in the UK and champion of small, independent brands. We’re also the brains behind Zoom by Ocado, our same-day grocery delivery service.
About The Team And The Role
Ocado Retail is seeking a highly organised and structured Commercial Delivery Lead to join our Commercial team. This role will lead the delivery of critical projects across the Commercial function, from inception through to implementation. The role requires both retail experience and experience in programme management or working on large cross-functional projects, with strong communication skills.
This role will report to the Commercial Development Director and manage a team of two. The breadth of the role would provide a great stepping stone into the Commercial function of a retailer, or provide an experienced buyer with new, complementary skills to help take their career to the next level.
What You’ll Do
Define and lead key projects across the Commercial function, managing the end-to-end critical path and tracking progress against deliverables
Identify project blockers and risks, and follow through on mitigation actions with the respective owners
Lead detailed assessments of our commercial processes and identify opportunities to improve ways of working, processes and systems
Lead improvements in cross-functional collaboration, both across the Commercial team and with other key functions (e.g., Marketing, Insights, IT)
Work closely with our tech teams to shape the trading systems roadmap, ensuring tools are fit for purpose and our operating models are adapted to maximise the benefit of these tools
Lead project management of the annual cycle of buying activities, e.g., strategy setting and range review processes, including coordination of training and sign-off sessions
Lead preparation of supplier-facing communications and events, including our annual supplier conference and new supplier trainings
Prepare and deliver internal communications across the Commercial function
Who You Are
Proven experience in a commercial, project management, or consulting role within the retail space, ideally in the grocery sector
Strong understanding of retail and commercial processes and a perspective on best practices seen in other organisations
Ability to influence and lead multiple projects to completion, while working with multiple stakeholders and priorities
A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex critical paths in a fast-paced environment
Ability to structure complex problems and deliver clear and concise recommendations, combining a data-driven mindset, pragmatism and creativity
Focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to write clearly for a range of audiences (PowerPoint, written documents, and verbal communications)
Strong stakeholder management and comfort working across different functions and levels of the organisation
Able to consistently deliver against KPIs within a fast-paced and changing environment
Change management or lean process improvement experience would be highly beneficial
