Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a business-savvy, recently qualified commercial lawyer who thrives in fast-paced, international and client facing environments. This role sits in the client contract team within HH Global’s Legal Department and requires the provision of legal advice to business colleagues across the EMEA and APAC regions, with a particular focus on the United Kingdom and Europe.

The majority of the work will focus on drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of international commercial agreements. In any given day, you might negotiate client contracts, advise business leaders on the implications of liability and indemnification provisions / other contractual provision, review RFP documents or draft complex framework agreements and ad hoc clauses.

As most of our clients are large international corporations, any previous experience in-house in an international department or setting and robust negotiation experience are highly desirable.

This role can operate remotely within the UK, but you are of course welcome in one of our offices at any time.

The position is for a 6 month period and for 3 days per week - when asked at the point of online application, please state your expected full time equivalent annual salary expectation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, edit, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements, including master services agreements with large, novation, amendment agreement, local country agreement, IT and SaaS agreements, warehousing agreements, trademark license agreements etc
  • Help HH Global respond to RFPs by reviewing contractual documents, advising on legal and commercial risks and responding to required contract matrix
  • Manage external counsel, as necessary
  • Provide general guidance and training on legal issues affecting HH Global
  • Ensure that HH Global is aware of relevant legislation affecting HH Global and help the business prepare for future changes
  • Advise on other ad-hoc legal matters
  • Actively promote and protect HH Global’s commercial interests

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • Relevant legal qualification(s)
  • In-house counsel and international experience preferable
  • Extensive experience negotiating and drafting complex and high value commercial contracts
  • Excellent technical knowledge and knowledge of English law
  • Experience working across many jurisdictions and with a diverse group of internal customers
  • Strong commercial acumen and pragmatism
  • Highly effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate a keen ability to spot sensitive legal and business concerns, including a strong sense of when to escalate (and not escalate) such matters to internal partners;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Good team player, approachable and personable
  • Down-to-earth, pragmatic, business-savvy approach
  • Able to work independently, can juggle priorities and move fast
  • Comfortable around higher management
