Join a team that helps keep the electricity network safe, reliable and ready for a net zero future. In this role, you’ll make sure the condition monitoring data we depend on is accurate, consistent and analysis-ready—so engineers and decision-makers can act with confidence.
It’s a nationwide, hands-on position with plenty of variety, working with advanced condition monitoring in a fast-moving environment. If you enjoy turning complex technical information into clear insight—and improving the way data is captured, checked and reported—this is the kind of role where your impact will be felt every day.
As our Condition Monitoring Engineer, you’ll review, maintain and support the deployment of Substation Condition Monitoring (CM) technologies, making sure asset condition data is captured correctly and passed through robust quality checks. You’ll manage inspection information from end to end—handling exceptions, improving data quality, and turning outputs into clear condition reporting and KPI updates for a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll support the annual condition monitoring programme across our high voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales (c.4,500 miles of overhead line, c.900 miles of underground cable, and 300+ substations). Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you’ll maintain and develop the tools and systems used to collect and manage inspection data, ensuring it remains usable, consistent and trusted. The role involves regular travel to sites across the country; when on-site attendance isn’t required, you may have the flexibility to work from home.
