At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
An exciting and career defining opportunity has arisen for a
Conformance Engineer to join our conformance engineering team at Filton.
Working as part of a wider team of 25 engineers, the successful applicant will be responsible for measuring aircraft components on multiple CMM machines.
This role is suitable for individuals that have completed an indentured apprenticeship within a conformance or engineering discipline.
Following an initial training period, you will work a
core night shift, which includes 33% shift premium:
Monday - Thursday 21:15pm - 06:30am
How You'll Contribute
In This Role, You Will
- Maintain and manage the timely delivery of parts to meet agreed customer schedules and specifications
Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to optimise workflow and reduce wastePerform detailed inspections using co‑ordinate measuring machines (CMMs)Analyse measurement data in PC‑DMIS to determine part validity and ensure components progress efficiently through manufacturingCarry out inspections using traditional hand‑measurement toolsRecord and verify data against aircraft drawings, models, and first article inspection (FAI)Produce comprehensive inspection reports to meet legal, regulatory, and quality standardsMaintain accurate inspection history and traceability within SAPSupport engineering teams with data and insights for product developmentRaise quality notifications for non‑conforming partsPrepare documentation for concessions, deviations, or rework activities

Qualifications
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
- Time served, Experience in aerospace, precision engineering, or a similar high‑integrity manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with CMM equipment and PC‑DMIS software
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem‑solving
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage
