About the Company



We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the planning, execution & completion of industrial construction projects in London, UK. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in the Chemical, FMCG, Manufacturing industries, Warehouse or EPC with a strong background in mechanical, piping, civil, structural & electrical construction management. The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring that construction activities are completed on schedule, within budget and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires expertise in contractor management, site coordination, risk mitigation & stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities



  • Construction Planning & Execution
  • Develop and implement construction execution plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Oversee civil, mechanical, piping, structural, and electrical installation activities.
  • Ensure adherence to design specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and track construction progress, resolving delays and mitigating risks to meet project deadlines.

    • Site Management & Coordination
    • This pivotal role involves meticulous planning, managing permits, supervising contractors, ensuring rigorous adherence to safety protocols.
    • Diligently reviewing and approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
    • The Construction Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of various construction projects from initiation to completion.
    • Lead daily site meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
    • Ensure site activities comply with OSHA, ASME, NFPA, and other relevant industry standards.
    • Supervise and coordinate multiple contractors, subcontractors, and labor teams to optimize workflow efficiency.
    • Ensure all construction materials, equipment, and resources are available and properly allocated.


    • Safety & Quality Assurance
    • Drive project efficiency, maintain high-quality standards, and foster a safe working environment across all assigned scopes.
    • Implement and enforce site safety programs, risk assessments, and incident prevention plans.
    • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and root cause analysis for near-miss and accident investigations.
    • Ensure quality control measures are followed in welding, piping, concrete works, and structural installations.
    • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to ensure all work meets project and regulatory requirements.


    • Contractor & Vendor Management
    • Manage contractor performance, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and per contract specifications.
    • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to expedite the delivery of construction materials and equipment.
    • Conduct contractor progress reviews, approve work completions, and handle disputes or claims.


    • Site Support & Commissioning
    • Mechanical and Electrical Installation of Conveyors: Oversee the installation, commissioning, and integration of complex conveyor systems, including associated mechanical and electrical components, controls, and safety devices.
  • Dock Door Installations: Manage the installation of various dock door systems, levellers, shelters, and related access control systems.
  • Civil Enabling Scopes: Direct and manage foundational civil works.
  • Create RFQ (request for quotation) documents for scopes of works and provide analysis on best supplier option.
  • Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure proper handover documentation, as-built drawings, and punch list resolutions before project completion.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams for a smooth transition from construction to operation.

    • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
    • Provide regular progress updates, risk assessments, and status reports to senior management.
    • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to align construction activities with overall project goals.
    • Ensure compliance with EPC contracts, regulatory permits, and local/state building codes.

  • Qualifications



    15+ years of experience in the Chemical, FMCG, Manufacturing industries, Warehouse or EPC with a strong background in mechanical, piping, civil, structural & electrical construction management.



    Required Skills



    • Strong expertise in construction management, site supervision, and contractor coordination.
    • Technical knowledge of mechanical, piping, civil, structural, and electrical construction.
    • Familiarity with industrial equipment, process piping, rotating/static equipment, and structural steel erection.
    • Awareness of construction scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
    • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and leadership skills.
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ASME, NFPA, and local building codes.
