Are you an experienced clinician looking for a new challenge and the opportunity lead the delivery of psychological care to adults with adults with complex mental health problems in Milton Keynes ?
Our multi-disciplinary, clinician-lead team is looking for applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic Applied Psychologists with experience in community based secondary mental health care settings, who are committed to delivering specialist, multi-disciplinary, patient-focused care and providing person-centred treatments.
Main duties of the job
This is a unique opportunity to shape adult mental health services in Milton Keynes. You will clinically lead the therapies pathway with the Hub, supporting others to develop and perform clinical duties to the best of their ability. The pathway uses a stepped care approach and you will be instrumental in managing waiting lists, ensuring delivery of evidence based high quality care achieving good outcomes within the context of a challenging healthcare system. You will lead on trauma-informed care across the Hub, and contribute to CPD, service development, policy-making and clinical decision-making. You will have a small caseload and will support a team of APs, CAPs, art therapists, MBT and DBT therapists, clinical and counselling psychologists.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- To lead, manage and plan the delivery of a highly specialist psychology and psychotherapy service to MKMHH and personally provide expert clinical input.
- To be responsible to the Professional Lead for Psychological Therapies for the monitoring and implementation of professional standards in the practice of applied psychology and psychotherapy in the MKMHH and for the systematic and effective provision of professional supervision.
- To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To ensure the conduct of research, service evaluation and audits relevant to adult mental health and the Trust/specialty research agenda
- To be responsible for the good clinical governance, quality and appropriateness of the work of psychologists and psychotherapists in the MKMHH.
- To work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures, and interpret these and be responsible for their implement ion within the service area of responsibility.

- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (Clinical or Counselling Psychology Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration
- Additional training beyond entry-level qualification in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses and/or an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice–based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice, assessed by a BPS National Assessor and an experienced clinical supervisor to be of equal level to a Postgraduate Diploma or higher.
- Completed training course in clinical supervision.
- Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
- Management or Leadership training
- BABCP registration

- Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist under supervision in secondary care community settings with adults with severe mental health problems
- Significant experience of working as a Principal Psychologist
- Experience of undertaking leadership roles
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex mental health difficulties
- Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training.
- Experience of providing teaching and training to psychologists or other professional groups.
- Post-qualification experience that supports working with, and engaging people from diverse backgrounds within local communities.
- Experience of carrying out post-doctoral research, audit or service evaluation projects.
- Experience of proposing and implementing service development projects that impact beyond own service area.
