Job Overview
LUHFT invites applications for this part-time (0.6 WTE) Consultant in Restorative Dentistry post, based at Liverpool Dental Hospital. We are seeking an enthusiastic clinician to strengthen our Restorative Dentistry Service in Merseyside. The successful candidate will contribute to the general restorative diagnostic service as well as providing high-level specialist care in the operative management of a wide range of patients including those with hypodontia, disorders of dental development and head & neck cancer. Experience in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, implant planning, implant based treatments and the delivery of clinical dental education are expected.

The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity, to help maintain the Departmental patient target activities and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Our large and diverse department provides diagnostic, advice and treatment services for the local population as well as secondary/tertiary care across the breadth of Restorative Dentistry. The department is active in the management of high priority patients and involved in multi-disciplinary patient management across the region and within LUDH.
We have close links with Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Special Care Dentistry, Oral Medicine, and OMFS and have excellent on-site laboratory facilities for all aspects of prosthodontics care.
Many of our existing Consultants and Honorary Consultants have specialty and sub-specialty interests including endodontics, periodontology, toothwear, oncology, implant rehabilitation, hypodontia, xerostomia, fixed prosthodontics, cleft lip and palate and sleep medicine.
The department supports the clinical training of Dental Core Trainees, Specialty Registrars and an Academic Clinical Fellow. There are postgraduate students training in Endodontics.
The successful applicant would be expected to be involved in the teaching and training of specialty registrars and dental core trainees alongside undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The department is served by in house laboratories for removable and fixed prosthodontics with close co-operation for complex technical work. In-house intra-oral scanning and digital production laboratory processes are under development.

The post holder is expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Restorative Dentistry and sub specialty interests in areas such as management of facial pain, complex removable prosthodontics, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, dental materials science. They should have an innovative approach to patient care, teaching, and management.
The post holder will be expected to work under the line management of the Divisional Medical Director of Liverpool University Dental Hospital and work closely with the Specialty Lead for Restorative Dentistry
The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity, to maintain required clinical service and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.
