Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC) are currently the Lead Provider of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC) bringing together integrated provision of specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability and autism services, for young people aged 13-18.The Toucan West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC) is seeking to substantively recruit a Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist who is committed to working with children and young people with complex mental health needs. This post will provide the medical leadership within an experienced nursing team who gatekeep all access to T4 services.
The successful candidate will work with Toucan WMCPC Eating Disorder Intensive In reach Team (ED-IIT) and the Referral Coordination Hub (RCH) gatekeeping & advice and guidance services (in hours). There will be opportunities to contribute to shaping alternatives to T4 services further and for providing leadership and training across complex care and inpatient pathways.
Job description
The duties of the post holder will include providing psychiatric assessment and gatekeeping service for young people in the West Midlands aged up to their 18th birthday, who may require inpatient psychiatric admission.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with members of the community services, and relevant professionals such as Tier 3 CAMHS teams, GPs, pediatricians, educational professionals, social care and the regional inpatient units. The post holder will work in accordance with the values of Birmingham Womens and Childrens Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and WMCPC.

MBBS or equivalent medical qualificaton
CCT holder in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent (or within 6 months of becoming eligible for CCT)
Current full registration with the GMC (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment)
Wide range of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry including tier 4 experience
GMC Licence to practise
MRC Psych (or equivalent)
Approval (or eligible for approval) under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act
Eligible to work in the UK
Provision of high-quality mental services, as trainee or consultant
A broad range of experience in Child & Adolescent psychiatry and working with multi-disciplinary teams
Experience of assessment, treatment and medical monitoring of patients and their families

Ability to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework, and to share leadership responsibilities with senior colleagues of other professions
