Contracts Manager

Location: Appledore, Bideford EX39| Permanent:


Navantia UK is building the future of British defence, maritime and energy capability. Following the acquisition of Harland & Wolff’s four UK facilities in 2025, we’re combining 300 years of global naval expertise with iconic British shipbuilding heritage — investing in facilities, skills and sovereign capability across the UK.

We’re now seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead high-value, complex subcontracting and procurement activity within our Appledore site.


The Opportunity:

This is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for shaping and executing complex domestic and international contracts. You’ll drive negotiation strategy, oversee supplier performance, manage risk, and act as the escalation point for high-risk contractual matters — ensuring commercial optimisation and delivery excellence.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Lead complex, high-value contract negotiations and execution
  • Provide senior commercial guidance on risk, governance and dispute resolution
  • Oversee supplier cost, schedule, quality and performance delivery
  • Drive best-value outcomes across diverse pricing models and procurement routes
  • Strengthen strategic supply chain partnerships

  • About You:

    • Extensive experience in contract management/procurement within defence, marine, engineering or construction
    • Proven track record managing and negotiating complex, non-standard contracts
    • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
    • Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g. MCIPS, MBA)
