Unit Manager to lead
Critical care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced and evolving clinical environment.
The Critical Care Unit at Aintree University hospital is a purpose built 31 bedded combined Level 2 and Level 3 unit. The unit is currently funded for 14 Level 3 beds and 12 Level 2 beds. The actual daily composition of the unit is fluid and depends on patient case-mix.
There are between 1200-1400 admissions per year of which 25% are elective surgical patients. Aintree University Hospital houses the supra-regional service for vascular surgery, Maxillo-facial and ENT surgery and Emergency General surgery. Since 2012, Aintree has been the regional Major Trauma Centre as part of the Mersey and Cheshire Trauma centre collaborative.
The post holder will have management responsibility for the department over the 24hr period, ensuring a high standard of nursing care.
Key responsibilities will include the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, effective leadership and staff management/development
The post holder will always work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.
- You will join the current management team within Critical Care and be a role model to our team and lead the development of staff within our unit. You will lead, provide and supervise a very high standard of compassionate care to our patients, whilst being accountable for staffing issues and managing a very large team. You will support the safety and quality agenda of patient care and staff management, ensuring that the values and objectives of the Trust are met; whilst improving patient outcomes.
