Description

VolkerWessels UK is a market leading contracting group of five closely linked businesses.

We provide integrated and ground-breaking solutions for the civil engineering and construction sectors, with specialisms in rail, highways, airports, marine, defence, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure.

We're looking for a Cyber Security Analyst to strengthen the security posture of a VolkerWessels UK joint venture, with a sharp focus on Microsoft 365. You'll be the go‑to security lead on the ground-making sure our M365 environment (including SharePoint, OneDrive, Power BI and identity services) is secure, compliant, and resilient against evolving threats.

Working alongside the VolkerWessels UK Corporate Security Team, you'll help implement and operate security controls, embed best practice, and ensure day‑to‑day operations meet group standards. This is a fast‑moving environment, so you'll need to think pragmatically, act quickly, and deliver smart, secure solutions.

You'll take ownership of secure configuration, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement across identity, access, data protection, compliance, and collaboration tools.

Please note that this role is based at our Hoddesdon, with travel across sites

About you

  • Strong experience implementing cyber security tools and controls, especially in cloud and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Demonstrable knowledge of:
      • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
      • Identity and Access Management
      • Security monitoring and alerting
  • Experience investigating and responding to security incidents
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms and log analysis
  • Solid understanding of cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques·
  • Quick to learn and comfortable adapting to new technologies, threats, and ways of working
  • Strong communicator who can explain security concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Highly organised, with solid time‑management skills and sharp attention to detail
  • Collaborative team player who works well with a range of stakeholders
  • Calm under pressure and able to juggle multiple priorities effectively

Desirable

  • Microsoft Security certifications (SC‑200, SC‑300, SC‑400) or other security qualifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH)
  • Experience implementing ISO/IEC 27001 controls
  • Knowledge of the NIST Cyber Security Framework
  • Experience improving Microsoft Secure Score and Defender posture
