Data Architect

up to £120,000

London (2-3 days per week)

I’m partnering on a search for an experienced Data Architect to join a well-established, international insurance group supporting multiple specialist business entities. This is a strategic, business-facing role focused on shaping and delivering a modern data architecture vision across the organisation.

🚀 The Opportunity

You will define and drive the strategic approach to data management - ensuring the right technical frameworks, governance models and capabilities are in place to enable business performance.

You will act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, translating complex data concepts into clear commercial value. This includes “storytelling” through data visualisation and presenting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This role combines strategic roadmap ownership with hands-on architectural design.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Define and implement a clear data vision and multi-year roadmap
Provide data architecture strategy and governance guidance across business entities

Design and deliver scalable data architecture solutions

Address legacy data challenges including lineage, cleansing, dictionary and quality

Lead and contribute to data quality forums, advising on remediation controls

Develop policies and procedures for data development and maintenance

Partner with architecture peers, data & analytics teams, actuaries and senior stakeholders

Educate both IT and business teams on technology trends and data capabilities

Improve IT data functions to support future strategic goals

🧠 What We’re Looking For

Technical Expertise

Strong experience in Data Architecture, Data Modelling, Data Profiling and Data Warehouse Design (Kimball / Inmon)
Solid knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM)
Strong understanding of Data Integration patterns
Strong knowledge of data security models
Good understanding of privacy and data protection regulations
Awareness of Data Governance frameworks and Data Lakes
Exposure to Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and EA tooling

Broader Capability

Strong analytical and mathematical skills

Experience handling private and sensitive personal data

Confident decision-maker able to explain architectural choices clearly

Strong stakeholder engagement and client-facing skills

Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
