Description

We are supporting a global organisation in strengthening its data platform and data-driven application capabilities. As part of ongoing investment in modern data architecture, we are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines and data-centric applications within a cloud environment.


This role will focus on building reliable data processing solutions, integrating business logic with data workflows, and contributing to the architecture of a modern data platform. Strong experience with Databricks and Spark-based processing will be important for success in this role.

  • Role: Senior Data Engineer
  • Contract: 6 months (extension possible)
  • Location: Remote

  • Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data-driven applications integrating data processing, transformation, and business logic
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines to support analytics, application functionality, and operational workloads
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Contribute to architectural design decisions across application and data platform layers
  • Implement best practices for software engineering, data engineering, and secure cloud development
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and operational stability of data-centric applications in cloud environments
  • Ensure data systems are designed for performance, scalability, resilience, and security
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and tooling within data engineering and cloud ecosystems

  • Required Skills

    • 5+ years of professional experience in software development or data engineering
    • Strong experience building data-driven applications and data processing pipelines
    • Hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark
    • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with additional experience in languages such as Scala or C# beneficial
    • Solid understanding of data engineering principles, distributed processing, and data architecture
    • Experience designing systems using microservices, APIs, and integration patterns
  • Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience building and deploying solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional engineering teams

  • Other Desired Skills

    • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker
    • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices
    • Experience working in agile development environments
    • Ability to contribute to architectural discussions and mentor other engineers
