Job Introduction

Data Governance Analyst is a key role in our journey to becoming a data driven organisation.

Working within the UK Data Management function, the role holder is responsible for contributing to the implementation, oversight, awareness and maintenance of the Bank’s approach to data management, as well as supporting the establishment of the Bank’s operating model for data ownership and the Bank’s data governance committee structures.

The role reports directly to the Data Governance Lead, and is part of a small team of data governance officers and analysts responsible for embedding best practice data governance practices across the Bank.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data management procedures and guidance, acting as a champion for data management, raising awareness of data controls, and helping the business to unlock the value of data
  • Undertake business analysis and conduct workshops, when necessary, to support the implementation activities across data management as well as the data management services
  • Provide advice and support on the data management approach, working with data producers, consumers, and stewards
  • Develop and maintain key presentations and reports covering data management activities and metrics
  • Perform regular horizon scanning, impact assessments and provide recommendations on new and emerging data-related regulation and industry trends
  • Support the communication and education of various stakeholders within the bank contributing to the embedding of a data driven culture in the Bank
  • Operate in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

    • Experience working in data governance, data management or as business analyst preferably within Financial Services
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and focus on continuous improvement
    • Methodical approach and efficiency
  • Strong presentation skills both written and oral; experienced in presenting complex data concepts to a business audience i.e. running workshops
  • High-level understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks and approaches
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with impact with people of all levels
  • Ability to work independently to drive specific outcomes, requesting guidance when needed and aligning to team and business goals
