Description

About the job

Travel Insurance is a key element of Admiral Insurance’s diversification strategy, with Pricing and Data playing a critical role in its continued success. As the volume, speed and variety of data grow, high quality data and insight are essential for delivering meaningful reporting. This includes monitoring performance, identifying opportunities to improve products and internal processes, ensuring pricing remains fair and sustainable, and helping the business stay competitive.

We are seeking a Data Manager to oversee the delivery of data, reporting and insight that supports the Travel function. Working closely with Pricing and wider teams across Travel and Data, you will be responsible for collating, transforming and analysing data, ensuring accuracy and reliability across all reporting. As a small but growing team, this role combines management responsibilities with hands on analytical work, and requires a collaborative, proactive approach.

Main Duties

  • Lead and manage a team of data analysts responsible for data ingestion, analysis and quality oversight.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of core datasets used by the Operations team.
  • Design and deliver insightful reporting tailored to stakeholder needs, including Operations and Retention.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of dashboards that monitor MI and performance across multiple business areas, including regulatory reporting such as Fair Value Assessments.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of MI and reporting tools to support growing data volumes and ensure efficient, accurate insight delivery.
  • Take ownership of data quality issues, performing root cause analysis and assessing wider business impacts.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including Travel leadership and the Travel Director.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across Travel and Data, promoting best practice and shared objectives.
  • Lead the ongoing development of MI and reporting tools, along with the underlying architecture required to produce high quality reporting at scale.
  • Define requirements for integrating new data sources or external datasets into Travel’s reporting processes.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive data definitions library to support consistency and clarity across the business.
  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Head of Travel Data Insights or the Head of Travel Pricing, Data and Gen AI.

  • Essential Skills and Experience

    • Strong experience in a data or analytical role.
    • Previous experience of people management.
    • Strong data analysis capability using tools such as SAS, BigQuery or SQL.
    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
    • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to different audiences.
    • High numerical capability and a structured, methodical approach to problem solving.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and conclusions.
    • A proactive and collaborative working style.
