As a Data Migration Analyst, you will be a key member of a data migration / data archiving project. Working closely with the Data Migration Lead, you will support the design, build, analysis, mapping, transformation and validation of data required to deliver the data migration / archive project. You will be responsible for profiling, analysing and documenting datasets, including both structured and unstructured data, to ensure high‑quality, complete and accurate data is migrated to the target platform and archive solution appropriately.

You will work collaboratively across business stakeholders, business analysts, data analysts, engineering teams and project delivery to support end‑to‑end migration activities including mapping definition, data quality assessment, rules creation, testing support and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Mapping

Build and conduct detailed data profiling and assessment across datasets, including structured and unstructured data.

Support the creation and maintenance of data mapping specifications between source systems, the target and archive solutions.

Analyse and interpret business rules, transformation logic and data requirements with SMEs, business analysts and the Data Migration Lead.

Document data definitions, relationships, lineage and metadata supporting migration and archival activities.

Support the identification of data gaps, inconsistencies, duplicates and quality issues.

Data Quality & Validation

Perform data quality analysis to identify defects, trends, root causes and potential remediation activities.

Support the development and execution of data cleansing, enrichment and transformation rules.

Assist in defining data quality checks, validation criteria, acceptance thresholds and reconciliation steps.

Work with stakeholders to ensure data issues are logged, triaged, remediated and re‑tested efficiently.

Contribute to ongoing monitoring and reporting of data quality throughout migration cycles.

Migration Design & Execution Support

Support the Data Migration Lead in developing migration processes across extraction, staging, transformation and load phases.

Assist with preparing and validating datasets for mock loads, testing cycles and dress rehearsals.

Validate migrated data against source systems using reconciliation techniques.

Document technical and business findings relating to data anomalies, edge cases and mapping clarifications.

Assist in cutover preparation, data freeze activities and post‑migration verification.

Support quality checks, controls and sign‑off processes.

Data Archiving

Support the design and population of data archival datasets, ensuring completeness and compliance with data retention policies.

Analyse legacy data to determine suitability for archiving versus migration.

Document archival metadata, lineage and access considerations.

Qualifications & Skills

Relevant experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst or similar role with exposure to data‑heavy change and migration initiatives.

Experience working with datasets in financial services or financial advice organisations is desirable.

Understanding of data migration, data cleansing, data mapping, ETL/ELT processes and data lineage.

Experience working with 3rd party vendors is advantageous.

Strong technical skills in SQL and experience analysing data across data lakes, databases or wareho
uses.

Ability to work with both structured datasets and unstructured content (e.g., documents, notes, attachments).

Understanding of data quality principles, GDPR and data governance practices.

Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.

Proficiency with Jira, Confluence or similar tools is beneficial.

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate data issues to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
