ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented Design Assistant to support the Design team in the development and execution of seasonal collections. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow within a clothing brand and gain hands-on experience across product development, research, and design operations.
The Design Assistant will play a key role in maintaining design documentation, supporting product development processes, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department. It’s an opportunity for someone to learn and grow within one of the UK’s oldest but forward looking clothing brands.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Development Support
· Working with the designers to support them on sketches, CADS and fit updates – Adobe Illustrator skills are absolutely crucial to the role.
· Manage and track lab dips, including logging submissions, reviewing with the design team, and communicating feedback to the technical team.
· Assist in researching new products, categories, design details, silhouette research and customer trends to help inform seasonal direction including occasional travel for research trips etc.
· Maintain and organise the fabric library, ensuring all swatches and supplier information is clearly catalogued and accessible.
· Attending Fittings and ensuring spec sheets are in line with design and fit amendments. Assist with preparing and organising fit photos, including labelling, archiving, and distributing to relevant stakeholders.
· Update and maintain line sheets with accurate product details and information.
· Prepare materials for internal and external meetings, including product boards, fabric presentations, and range overviews.
· Take notes during meetings where required and distribute key actions.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· Degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design.
· Previous internship or experience within a fashion design or product development environment preferred.
· Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator which is essential, Indesign & Photoshop preferred).
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
