Design Manager | London

£85,000- £95,000 or Day Rate £350-£450/day

Well-established main contractor with a strong presence across the UK and Ireland, delivering high-quality residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. Known for technical capability, collaborative delivery and a growing pipeline of secured London projects.


The Role

An experienced Design Manager is required to manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion. Working as part of the Project Delivery Team alongside the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor, you will ensure design information is fully coordinated, compliant, commercially aligned and issued in line with programme.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage design across live and pre-construction projects
  • Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
  • Lead pre-construction design reviews and identify risks/opportunities
  • Develop and manage the Design Programme / Information Release Schedule
  • Chair design team meetings and drive consultant performance
  • Maintain design trackers (risk, change control, planning, building control, warranties)
  • Ensure buildability, compliance and commercial alignment
  • Lead design close-out including as-builts, O&M manuals and certifications

  • Requirements

    • Proven Design Manager experience within a UK main contractor
    • Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, planning conditions and warranty processes
    • Experience managing design programmes and change control
    • Commercially aware with strong stakeholder management skills
    • Procore or similar document management system experience
