Role Overview

We are hiring a DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure Specialist (AWS) to support the High-Level Design (HLD) and prototyping phase of a major Government Move to Cloud programme, focused on modernising a database platform.

This role will play a key part in enabling cloud-native DevOps capabilities, containerisation, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure-as-code implementation as part of a large transformation initiative.

The client is primarily based in Manchester and Newcastle. While most work will be remote, candidates must be willing to work onsite up to 2 days per week in Manchester, Newcastle, or occasionally London as required by the programme. Base location will align with the nearest consulting office.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (GitOps) and Helm
Develop and optimise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
Support containerisation and migration of legacy batch components into Kubernetes environments

Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to improve deployment and operational processes

Manage version control systems, artifact repositories, and pipeline integrations

Ensure AWS best practices for scalability, reliability, and security

Contribute to automation-first DevOps delivery approach

Core Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience in DevOps and automation-led delivery models
Proven expertise with:
GitLab CI/CD
ArgoCD
Helm
GitOps methodologies
Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised workloads
Solid understanding of AWS cloud services and cloud architecture principles
Experience supporting large-scale cloud migration or transformation programmes
