Typical Activities

Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Products, IT, and Service teams, the DevOps Engineer will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment.
  • Use containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure scalability and optimise resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with IT & Service teams to configure, maintain, and monitor infrastructure for DevOps capabilities.
  • Develop scripts and automation to streamline workflows and reduce manual tasks.
  • Design and implement monitoring and logging solutions to track performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth integration of DevOps tooling and processes.
  • Conduct peer reviews of DevOps deliverables to maintain quality standards.

  • What we're looking for

    • Proven experience implementing CI/CD best practices using GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI or Jenkins.
    • Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
    • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
    • Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, on-prem).
    • Working knowledge of networking concepts including VPCs, firewalls, and domain separation.
    • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Elastic, Prometheus or Splunk.
    • Ability to produce and review clear, structured technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Desirable

    • Experience developing microservices in Rust or Go.
    • Familiarity with serverless or cloud function technologies.
    • Understanding of software supply chain security, including artefact management and vulnerability scanning.
    • Knowledge of SaaS and PaaS architectures.
    • Experience in government or defence environments.

    Qualifications & Eligibility

    To Be Eligible For This Position You Must

    • Hold a relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or have equivalent professional experience; and,
    • Be a British citizen; and
    • Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - SC level clearance (DV desirable).
