Job Purpose
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for continuously assessing the impact on Spire Healthcare's critical systems by collaborating closely with system owners and you will act as a crucial link between IT and clinical operations, ensuring that technical requirements are seamlessly integrated into clinical workflows to maintain system resilience. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plans, Backup reviews, and Business Continuity Plans. Your role will involve ongoing review and testing of these plans to ensure they remain effective and up to date, thereby guaranteeing that our most important systems can withstand major outages. You will work closely with system owners from both the business and clinical sides, as well as the IT teams supporting these systems, to translate the requirements necessary for maintaining our infrastructure’s resilience.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate with clinical teams to understand their specific needs and translate these into technical requirements to ensure system resilience.
- Review and assess all systems with their respective system owners to ensure resilience, disaster recovery, backups, and business continuity plans are in place.
- Develop and implement strategies for regular testing of these plans to ensure their effectiveness.
- Compile and store resilience information within the CMDB, ensuring the process is continuous and incorporates new systems.
- Identify and prioritise the most important systems to ensure they can withstand major outages.
- Collaborate with other IT and business teams to promote resilience best practices and integrate new systems into the resilience framework.
- Work closely with clinical business and system owners to help them understand their responsibilities and translate technical requirements into actionable plans.
- Define and manage Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD), Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for critical systems.
- Communicate resilience strategies and technical matters to non-technical colleagues across the department.
- Lead and influence technical teams to improve decision-making processes and operational systems.
- Proactively identify potential problems and translate them into non-technical descriptions for broader understanding.
- Ensure alignment with the department's Security Strategy, Information Security Risk management approaches, and Enterprise Security Architecture operational and technical models.
- Ensure that IT systems are designed and implemented to support clinical operations effectively, maintaining high standards of resilience and continuity.
- Work closely with both IT and clinical stakeholders to develop comprehensive resilience strategies that address the unique challenges of healthcare environments.
- Working closely with the Head of Health Safety and Business Continuity, provide training and support to clinical staff on the use of IT systems and resilience practices, ensuring they are equipped to handle system outages and maintain operational continuity.
Personal Profile
Qualifications and Training:
- ITIL qualification desired
- Recognised IT or Information Security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, ISO27001, or similar are desirable.
- Relevant degree qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years IT experience, with a focus on resilience and disaster recovery.
- Experience in developing and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies.
- Strong experience in a similar role within a medium/large company involving a broad range of technologies.
- Experience with multi-supplier/multi-platform environments.
Knowledge And Technical Ability
- Expertise in integrating IT systems with clinical or business operations to ensure seamless functionality and resilience.
- Knowledge of technical infrastructure across multiple areas of IT (Windows, Azure, UNIX, Database, and Networks).
- Expertise in resilience and disaster recovery principles and practices.
- Experience with designing and implementing resilience strategies for enterprise systems.
- Awareness of IT Security and Governance best practices.
