Description

What this means for you

Joining Macfarlanes means being part of a collaborative, approachable team who want you to succeed. You’ll be encouraged to get involved and recognised for your contribution.

We take your development seriously. Our learning and development programmes are second to none and are designed to help you strengthen your skills.

Above all, you’ll be part of a firm where we all work together as part of a cohesive and supportive team, value your efforts and help you to thrive.

The team

Sitting within the Digital team in Marketing and BD, you’ll work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, the Social Media and Digital Marketing Assistant, and colleagues across the wider team to bring thought leadership and campaigns to life across our digital channels.

We operate a hybrid working model, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

The role

We’re looking for a Digital Marketing and Analytics Executive to strengthen and evolve our digital marketing activity across email, website, analytics and reporting, with social media support as required. This role plays a key part in delivering our integrated marketing strategy through high-quality execution and continuous improvement – helping us amplify the firm’s content, campaigns and events, drive measurable engagement, and demonstrate the impact of digital marketing on firm priorities.

You’ll be trusted to run BAU activity, raise standards, and introduce greater structure and insight into how we deliver and measure marketing activities. You will also provide guidance on digital best practice, helping colleagues make informed decisions about format, channel and measurement.

Core responsibilities

Reporting, Analytics and Dashboards (GA4 and other data sources):

You will recommend, set up and continuously improve dashboards and reporting frameworks across our marketing activity. You will play a key role in improving digital measurement maturity across the Marketing and BD team. You will:

  • own the design and delivery of regular reporting across website, email and social channels, using GA4 and platform analytics;
  • review existing reporting approaches and design improvements, including dashboards and visual reporting formats;
  • setup and maintain consistent UTM structures to support campaign tracking and attribution;
  • highlight notable trends or changes in performance – explaining what the numbers mean and what we should do next; and
  • support the wider team by making performance data easy to access, understandable and repeatable.

  • This is a key development area for us. We’re looking for someone who enjoys shaping and optimising how reporting works – not just maintaining what already exists.

    Email Marketing and Marketing Automation (Vuture):

    • build, QA and send email campaigns and mailings using Vuture (our mailing platform), ensuring accuracy and best practice across templates, content and audience selection;
    • support teams across Marketing with email delivery, helping them plan, prepare, troubleshoot and execute campaigns efficiently;
    • develop and deepen expertise in Vuture, becoming a go-to expert within the team over time;
    • contribute to improving audience segmentation, preference management and interpretation of engagement data; and
    • share insight from email performance so teams understand what resonated, what didn’t, and why.

    This role does not replace wider team involvement in Vuture or email campaigns, but it does bring expertise, consistency and confidence to how we use the platform – you will be the expert and provide support for the wider Marketing and BD team. If you haven’t used Vuture before, that’s ok, we will provide training and support to help you build expertise quickly.

    Website CMS and Content Management (Umbraco):

    • lead and support day-to-day website content updates using the CMS (Umbraco), including page edits, new content publishing and QA;
    • ensure content meets agreed standards for tone, formatting, metadata, accessibility and SEO;
    • support campaign and content landing pages, working with colleagues to improve clarity and on-site journeys; and
    • liaise with developers or suppliers to log issues, test fixes and maintain a clear audit trail.

    SEO and Content Optimisation:

    • take ownership of SEO fundamentals across the website, including titles, descriptions, headings, internal linking and content hygiene;
    • support colleagues with SEO-informed content publishing and updates;
    • use search and performance data to identify opportunities to improve visibility and engagement; and
    • help embed SEO thinking into everyday digital activity, rather than treating it as a bolt-on.

    Social Media Publishing and Editorial Support (Hootsuite):

    • support social media publishing as needed, providing cover and continuity alongside the Social Media and Digital Marketing Assistant;
  • confidently edit and refine social post copy to ensure it is clear, accurate and aligned to the firm’s tone of voice and strategy;
  • understand the firm’s channels, audiences and governance requirements so risks are identified early;
  • support with paid LinkedIn promotion and boosting; and
  • use performance data and wider firm priorities to make constructive recommendations on messaging and emphasis.

  • CRM and Campaign Operations (InterAction):

    • work with the CRM, BD and Events teams to support clean data flows between campaigns, email activity and reporting;
    • help maintain consistent approaches to audience selection and engagement tracking; and
    • contribute to improving how we evidence the impact of digital marketing activity over time.

    The candidate

    The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

    • minimum three years’ experience in a similar digital marketing role – delivering B2B digital marketing activity in a professional services or similarly complex stakeholder environment;
    • hands-on experience with email marketing platforms (Vuture ideal, or a comparable system);
  • strong CMS experience (Umbraco ideal, or a comparable system);
  • confident working knowledge of GA4 and digital analytics – able to translate performance data into measurable insight and optimisation recommendations;
  • designing, setting up and improving dashboards or reporting frameworks (e.g. GA4 dashboards, Power BI);
  • excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint for the most part)
  • excellent written English and the ability to edit copy with confidence and good judgement;
  • solid understanding of SEO fundamentals and how they apply to content publishing;
  • strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across BD, and fee-earner teams;
  • strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines calmly and accurately; and
  • prior experience within a professional services environment (ideally within a law firm).

  • Desirable experience:

    • supporting paid or promoted LinkedIn campaigns;
    • experience working with CRM systems such as InterAction and working with digital tools like Canva and Hootsuite;
    • automating and innovating with AI and other emerging digital/SaaS platforms; and
  • prior experience working closely with agencies or developers.

  • Application screening

    Any offer of employment with us is subject to our pre-employment checks which are conducted by a third-party screening provider. These may include but are not limited to your professional and academic qualifications, any criminal records and employment references. These checks will be initiated with your consent and your offer will be subject to the successful completion of these checks.
