It starts with our people, which is why we are seeking a Director of AI Enablement to join our team. Based within our Global Innovation function and reporting to the Global Director of Innovation and AI Systems, this role will lead organisational transformation by embedding AI enabled systems and workflows that optimise business processes and deliver measurable impact across the firm.
This will be responsible for defining and executing the firm’s AI transformation strategy and roadmap, with a primary focus on fee earner stakeholders. This includes deploying optimised, AI enabled business processes and ensuring that AI tools are embedded effectively into how the firm operates, collaborates, and delivers value.
Working closely with our in house Knowledge professionals, the role will oversee knowledge asset taxonomy and the curation of precedents and templates in partnership with Knowledge and Innovation Lawyers. The Director will also lead the design and delivery of AI enabled knowledge solutions, including search tools, drafting aids, clause banks, and playbooks, and will oversee the capture and curation of AI use cases aligned to practice and business priorities.
In addition, the role will provide strategic leadership to the AI Enablement team, coordinating projects and initiatives across the firm, and supporting Practice Group and business function engagement. Collaboration with the firm’s Knowledge and Innovation Lawyer community will be critical to ensure alignment across initiatives and consistency with broader firm wide strategic objectives.

You’ll be responsible for:
Systems Strategy and Product Ownership
• Lead firmwide AI enablement programs, through effective communications.
• Build and maintain the AI Enablement roadmap aligned to practice/function strategies and client needs.
• Collaborate with Practice Leaders, business teams, and lawyers to define and prioritize AI-assisted use cases.
• Define product requirements, success metrics, and adoption goals for the experience layer (e.g., prompts, playbooks, templates).
Processes
• Lead efforts to design, develop and continuously improve PG workflows, embedding the use of automation and AI where appropriate.
• Provide strategic ideas for and input into troubleshooting obstacles around user engagement with adoption of new AI tools and knowledge processes
• Drive behavioral change across the firm.
• Define requirements on metrics for stakeholder engagement with AI-enabled tools and processes. Develop and report on metrics related to participation with and utilization of knowledge assets and services.
• Partner with LPM/Pricing on legal AI service offerings and with BD on client narratives around knowledge and legal AI RFP contributions.
• Create AI playbooks (guardrails, prompt patterns, verification steps) tailored to matter types.
• Run pilots and iterate service improvements based on stakeholder feedback.
• Oversee knowledge asset taxonomy and precedent/template curation with Knowledge Lawyers and coordinate quality audits.
People
• Manage the global AI Enablement team in multiple locations globally.
• Work with Knowledge Lawyers, practice groups and BD team to develop and refine firm’s AI value add proposition more generally.
Skills and experience required
• Strong understanding of legal practices and processes. Would suit an individual with a number of years’ experience of working as a qualified lawyer in the UK or US in private practice
• Background in delivering AI Enablement within a multi-jurisdictional law firm environment
• Experience of working on Enterprise-level KM projects and working knowledge of Legal AI and KM systems.
• Track record of successfully running and/or coordinating large projects across jurisdictions.
• Line management experience, including managing people across jurisdictions.
• Strong understanding of legal workflows, confidentiality, and client guideline implications.
